High Court Stay on REET Result

Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday stayed the result of the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) while issuing a notice to the principal secretary of education and secretary of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.

The single bench of Justice V S Siradhana issued the order on a petition by Kamlesh Kumar Meena. The exam was held on February 11 this year where the petitioner alleged leakage of the question paper level two, apart from use of unfair means in the exam. The exam was conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.

Over a dozen candidates were also arrested by the police for using unfair means in the exam. The Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers was held at over 2,253 centres across the state. About 10 lakh candidates appeared in the examination. Keeping in view the security and confidentiality of the examination, internet services were restricted at many districts in the state.

The exams were held at two levels. The level first (class 6-8) were held in the morning and level two (1-5) were held in the afternoon.
The petitioner said he had received a G-series of the question paper before the examination. Despite higher officials were informed of the leakage of the question paper they failed to initiate any action.
